Millbrook, on the line between Elmore and Autauga counties, includes the old village of Robinson Springs. The area's first permanent home, Ellerslie, was completed in 1818 by Bolling Hall, a Revolutionary War veteran and former Georgia congressman, and the second, Thornfield, was finished in 1820 by pioneer Archibald McKeithen; both still stand.
Robinson Springs became an early summer retreat for wealthy families from Montgomery. Autauga County historian Shadrack Mims wrote around 1850 that Todd Robinson had chosen the spot as a retreat from the river and that the whole South held no healthier place. The Robinson Springs United Methodist Church was formed in 1828 and its present building completed in 1848, and the parsonage was sold to the Alabama historian Albert J. Pickett. In 1852 Robinson Springs hosted Alabama's first state fair. Sources Wikipedia: Millbrook, Alabama The Historical Marker Database: Robinson Springs United Methodist Church
